The Ballroom One-Step stemmed from the Castle Walk and Turkey Trot from the early 1900’s, getting its name from walking on each beat of the music. This allowed dancers to put their own style into their dancing without fear of dancing off beat. The country western one-step stems from the same idea and uses similar movements.
